Unsung Hero

Every few times I drive to work, this man would be standing in the middle of the road, directing traffic. I've seen him at 2 locations; in front of Setiawangsa traffic light and near Jelatek junction.

Travelogue to Macau and Hong Kong 2019

I had promised my wife that I will bring her to Hong Kong and Macau since we were dating. But somehow or rather, I did not fulfil the promise. Not wanting to be seen like a certain old man who had perfected the art of eating his own words, I said yes when she asked about it this year.

Soon after the tickets were booked, I began to get excited of the trip, our first duo trip since we were married. For me, it was not the prospect of seeing the places we often saw on Hong Kong TV series and movies. But to observe the changes in the two autonomous territories in China.

Returned Territories
The two territories which are conveniently located at the mouth of Pearl River fell into foreign powers in the age of western colonialism. Macau fell into the hands of the Portuguese while Hong Kong to the British.

For more than 100 years, both territories were administered by foreign powers with different ideals and socio-political ideas. The assimilation of local customs and foreign influence thus created in these two territories respectively a very unique and interesting new socio-political identity.

Testing

Ok. This is a testing post. Google has deleted Google Plus, and since my ID is linked to it, I'm having problem logging in via PC. So despite having a lousy app interface, I've got no choice but to log in using the app. And I might be migrating to another platform because of this.

Tragedi Waco, Texas

Tragedi di atas menjadi asas kepada filem tv "In The Line of Duty: Ambush at Waco".

Terbaru, kisah ini didramakan semula oleh HBO.

Abolishment of Death Sentence - A Win for Human Rights? Or a Massive Step to the Back for Humanity?

When baby Zara's mother, Noraida Abdul Aziz sent her to her children's baby-sitter on 7th November, she did not know that this would be the last time she would be holding her baby alive.  By the end of the day, baby Zara was hospitalised for physical abuse and rape.  Two days later, she died of her injury, which included fractured skull and torn hymen.  The suspect, the husband of the baby-sitter, was tested positive of methamphetamine abuse.

Yet, today (13th November 2018), Malaysian Cabinet had decided to abolish the death penalty.

A massive win for human rights activists.  But is it the right move?  Or is it a move that would bite Malaysians in the future?

A Strong Case to Maintain SOSMA

When then Prime Minister DS Najib abolished the ISA or Internal Security Act in 2011, Tun Dr Mahathir was amongst those that had criticised the move, which he had said that was to appease government detractors and foreign governments. In place of the abolished ISA, SOSMA or Security Offences Special Measures Act was enacted.

16 Sept

To many Malaysians, it is just another public holiday.  But 16 September is not just another pulbic holiday.  It is a day full of significance for our country.  Yet, many of our people do not understand the significance of this date and what it reminds us.  Allow me to remind us its significance.
