Teaching Conundrum

Other than military and police, another career path that have a special place in my heart is teaching. Not a surprise as I came from a family of teachers. Many in my family are teachers and according to my late Grandma, Grandpa himself descended from teachers from olden days in China.

For the Needs of Few

I was not surprised when Malaysian mainstream media broke the news. In fact, it was waiting to happen.

When Chief Minister Shafie Apdal's Parti Warisan won the state as part of a larger Pakatan Harapan's coalition, two of their earliest moves was to uplift the ban on barter trade and the ban on pump-boat, despite the protest from ESSCOM.

Unsung Hero

Every few times I drive to work, this man would be standing in the middle of the road, directing traffic. I've seen him at 2 locations; in front of Setiawangsa traffic light and near Jelatek junction.

Travelogue to Macau and Hong Kong 2019

I had promised my wife that I will bring her to Hong Kong and Macau since we were dating. But somehow or rather, I did not fulfil the promise. Not wanting to be seen like a certain old man who had perfected the art of eating his own words, I said yes when she asked about it this year.

Soon after the tickets were booked, I began to get excited of the trip, our first duo trip since we were married. For me, it was not the prospect of seeing the places we often saw on Hong Kong TV series and movies. But to observe the changes in the two autonomous territories in China.

Returned Territories
The two territories which are conveniently located at the mouth of Pearl River fell into foreign powers in the age of western colonialism. Macau fell into the hands of the Portuguese while Hong Kong to the British.

For more than 100 years, both territories were administered by foreign powers with different ideals and socio-political ideas. The assimilation of local customs and foreign influence thus created in these two territories respectively a very unique and interesting new socio-political identity.

Testing

Ok. This is a testing post. Google has deleted Google Plus, and since my ID is linked to it, I'm having problem logging in via PC. So despite having a lousy app interface, I've got no choice but to log in using the app. And I might be migrating to another platform because of this.
