Thank You

With great powers, comes great responsibility.

Writing is a powerful tool.

I didn't expect this attention. This article has been viewed far many number of times than I had expected.

I received quite a few questions from readers pointing out possible errors, both in calculation and my understanding. No, I won't delete their posts if they correctly point out my errors. They would get credit for correcting me.

What I have decided to do is to engage with my friends from LHDN to check if my post is accurate. That is the only responsible thing I can do for all those who had read and shared my post.

Like any of you, I also dislike reading unsubstantiated posts. Thus, let me do the favour to verify this correctly.

Once again, I thank all those who had read and shared. Your support, be it just reading or criticising will help me to improve my writing.

Last, as a responsible blogger, I would like to remind readers to verify all information received with the proper SME, even if the blogger is me.

How Does Reduction of EPF Deduction from 11% to 8% Affects Your Income Tax?

Update: I had reviewed my article.  Rather than rewriting the whole article to amend where was wrong, I'm leaving this here and posted a new article here.  Hopefully, this article answers your queries better.

Update: been receiving quite a few comments asking me on this post. Rest be assured I will try to get this answered. As I don't want anyone get into trouble for filing the wrong tax return, I've decided to ask my contacts in LHDN to vet through my interpretation. Any amendments will be clearly highlighted. Hope that helps.

Yesterday soon after the announcement of the Budget recalibration, some individuals began to spread rumours that when the govt reduce the employee's portion of EPF deduction, the government will be able increase their income tax base.

Commentary on Budget 2016 Recalibration

Interesting realignment of Budget 2016. Many of the rumoured bad news on the Budget that were shared by netizens, especially anti-Najib supporters via social media had turned out to be false. Not a surprise, since the rumours were spread for a specific reason, to bring pressure on the PM ahead of the tabling of Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA).  But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let anti-Najib supporters do what they love, while we dissect his budget realignment.

Book Review - Malaya's Secret Police 1945 - 1960 : The Role of The Special Branch in The Malayan Emergency by Leon Comber

Just bought this book last week. Written by Leon Comber (Prof), he attempts to write the book from an academician's eyes.

The book's cover. Aptly designed.

Questions of Identity by Bob Cook

Finally, after years of searching, across 5 countries, I have finally gotten a copy of this magnificent boom by Bob Cook. Even more interesting was this book might be one of the earliest edition as it was published in 1985 or 1987. The difficulty in searching for this book stemmed from the fact the book was no longer printed and very few people like books from UK (as opposed to same type of thriller from the US).

Tun Abdul Razak - The Hidden Story

First, you tried to damage his reputation, then his wife, then his father, then his children, and when that all failed, you're targeting his father again. When you tried to damage the rest, I don't care. That's not my problem but his. But when you tried to damage his father's, I care.

Yes, I'm talking about our PM, DS Najib Tun Razak. I don't care if you all spread lies about him or his family, because they have yet to prove themselves in my eyes. But when you try to spread half-truths about Tun Abdul Razak, that I can't accept.

Dangerous Precedent

This is a dangerous precedent.

The recent case on the rights of home owners to self-defence has been entirely taken out of context by irresponsible politician pundits.
